ALL WET
The baptistry was in the floor of the platform, just to the right of the pulpit. When the pastor entered the auditorium, he noticed that the baptistry curtains were not quite closed—a sure distraction for some. As the choir began the call to worship, he quietly stretched across to correct the situation and momentarily lost his balance. In catching himself, he splashed his foot into the water, soaking his shoe, sock, and slacks. Since he lived in the pastorium just next door, he whispered to a nearby soprano that he would be back in a moment; he was just going to change. The helpful lady said to the music director, in a stage whisper that no one missed, “Keep singing, Bob, the preacher wet his pants!”
