Subject: [milliways-L] "I Am What I Am"

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) -- Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow has
reportedly beaten pop-star turned author Madonna to play a British diamond
thief.

According to the London-based Channel 4, both superstars, who are friends,
wanted the rights to Joan Hannington's story. Known as the Godmother,
Hannington stole $5 million worth of jewels from London's top jewelers in
the 1980s.

The film will be based on Hannington's autobiography "I Am What I Am." She
spent 18 months in prison for her crime.

Hannington says, "They wanted Guy Ritchie to buy it, so Madonna could play
me. Number one, she can't act. Two, she can't do a Cockney accent and
Gwyneth can."

The "Shakespeare In Love" actress apparently wasn't able to put Hannington's
book down.

Paltrow can currently be seen in another biopic, "Sylvia," the life story of
author Sylvia Plath.
