Police Donate Money For Crime Victim
An elderly New York City woman wept with gratitude after city police officers passed the hat and replaced the $700 in Christmas money she had lost in a mugging. "I didn't know people cared about me like that," 68-year-old Edith Henry tells the New York Post. Henry had cashed a check she planned to use to buy presents when she was mugged inside a Big Apple check cashing store. She says three store employees did not help her as a man attacked and wrestled her to the floor, beating her. "The Grinch stole her Christmas, we just tried to give it back to her," says officer Hector Carire, who had responded to the theft with his partner, officer Dana Holley.
