Hi,

Would it be possible to have a 'bogus' sniffer in memory at all time, that
provides other sniffer instances with the rulebase etc, the way it is
working now if you have concurrent sniffer sessions?

It would be great to have one instance of sniffer 'out there' (not scanning
messages) which is just waiting for others to share the DB with. This speeds
up message sniffing ror Mdaemon considerably, because MD can only have 1
instance of the content filter at all times (and therefore 1 instance of
Sniffer).

That's very interesting... I didn't know that MDaemon was limited in this way.

We are planning to make an update that will allow a sniffer instance to run in a script with long wait times so that it can be set up to do this.

We are also planning to help integrate sniffer with MDaemon directly - I've been told we will begin working on that this month.

Hope this helps,
_M
