Sprint made an announcement that they were going to change their routing and that seems to coincide with these new events. Perhaps instability on that part of the network is causing some ftp/wget downloads to become corrupted - though that's not supposed to happen.
I've bounced the server just in case something was hung up there that I couldn't see - although some folks are not having trouble so there is nothing conclusive at this time.

Could it possibly be your FTP server. This morning it timed out 4 times when trying to manually download using my SecureFX program while this afternoon wget has had no problem. Maybe your getting hammered maliciously with outside requests.
