Pete,

Due to growing log file sizes and a ridiculous amount of fragmentation caused by all of the associated products, I was forced to move to a system that does hourly rotation of my logs, moving them to a different drive, and then zipping them up after midnight.

I'm thinking that you would save a significant amount of bandwidth on your end by allowing us to zip and upload our logs. There was a brief exchange on this list two months ago about you thinking about enabling this and I thought I would chime in on this and suggest it again. This would actually simplify my scripting since I could do it all within a single script without a multiple minute wait for it to upload a +15 MB uncompressed log file. I can however certainly make it work the other way if required.

Please note that I'm using WinZip 9.0's Command Line Option which is free for registered users of WinZip. I prefer this over gzip because I use WinZip anyway and like the right click menu zipping that it provides for, and the commands are quite simple and seemingly complete. If you move to support zip files, please don't discriminate against the non-open source stuff :)

Thanks,

Matt
