It sounds like you may be using the 3mil. non premium vinyl.
We have developed a covering system that is very durable by applying
contact cement to the epp first, then using filament tape on all the
structural ares like the LE and TE and spar caps. Then you cover the
remaining exposed foam with clear packing tape and then iron or heat gun the
plane to tighten everything up. You then apply the
sign vinyl as the final color. It doesn't crack and it is much more
rigid than standard covering systems.
This info has been posted a few times ove the last couple of years
and is also on some web sites.(I should have had it on mine by now)
