It does seem like launch technique is a dying art.... Time after time no mater what the conditions are, you see most pilots go up the winch, put their foot on the peddle, and and not let off tell they zoom off... They even do this to light weight RES ships. Crazy Crazy Crazy......
All you are doing is sucking in line!!!!! And lowering your ultimate launch height. If U tap your plane up the first 1/2 to 3/5 of the launch.. Using the wind (if present) as your friend..Then put your foot into it for the last bit to pick up speed you will get a much higher launch... In the good old days we had no choice but to tap our planes up and fly them like a kite...Sometimes letting out more line than we took in. But the same principles apply today... But with a zoom at the end :-) Down wind launches are a whole other matter :-) If you saw any of my Super Esprit's 200' launches at Visalia you know what I'm talking about :-)))) Craig
