Hi Mike and RCSE,

I'd recommend you check out CR's Fun One. At $90 with a fiberglass fuse and
pre-sheeted wing it is a great value, a great plane and a fast build. I've
raced mine man-on-man at club races against mini-ellipses, sparrows, snipes,
sharks and other critters, and it is very competitive. Several pilots
commented that it was faster than the mini-ellipse in the straights and
seemed to lose a little in the turns (pilot error?!:-))If memory serves, I
think it has a 6062 airfoil. Aerobatics - decent inverted flight, outside
and inside loops, good energy retention. Can be built with standard or
V-tail. Breaks down for travel too. Just two nylon bolts for the wing. I
built mine with a removable tail group as well. Ballast - Exopied a Plywood
plate, bolt and wingnut over the CG and can add 30 oz of lead plates to it.

Durable? I mid-aired with a piece of foam (DAW P-51)2-weeks ago week at the
bottom of the pipeline maneuver on a 20+ day , while carrying 20 oz of
ballast(i.e. going pretty darn fast!). Wing bolts broke, as they're supposed
to, fuse went straight into the face of the slope like a lawn dart.
Damage... Broke the fuse in half, right under TE, clean break, fixed with
glass inside and out. Wing - took the impact on the LE, about 5 inches out
from center. Cut out damaged foam and basswood LE, replaced and ready to go.
Good thing, cause I really like this plane. Like Paul Naton, who will be
shootin a video at SU 2000, I'm a big fan of Charlie's planes.

Be sure to join us for Soar Utah 2000 on Sept 2-4 (Labor Day weekend) at the
Point of the Mountain, Salt Lake City, Utah. Pilots are coming from the
East Coast, Canada, Hawaii and all points in between. Rumor has it that some
of our friends from across the pond will join us too! Go to
www.silentflyer.net or email me for more information!

Thx-Scott

I'm not going for all out speed, but more of the aerobatic/speed mix. I'm
looking for something that I can get into the air relatively quickly
also.
