I'm sure that many people leave the list, because they're simply sick and
tired of downloading/skimming/deleting the huge amount of email generated on
a daily basis. If they find that the tedious process doesn't justify the
occasional gem of information, they bail. Those of us that are REALLY
friggen bored keep on, just cause it's something to look busy with at work.

Why exactly is it that the RCSE is an email list? Why not just move it to
the web, and one of the many "bulletin board" forum formats? There are some
really sharp, high-tech, and advanced forum engines out there that would
work beautifully for the purposes of RC info sharing.

And the beauty of em would be no more opening up your email to find hundreds
of messages worth of arguments and BB-gun duels at 10 paces. Anyone could
peruse the forum at their leisure, and quickly see the response structure of
various threads at a glance. Heck, throw in a registration process and a
coupla trusted moderators, and you have good security for the "clubhouse" as
well, keeping the riff-raff out and the clinically insane in and happily
drugged on visions of thermals and slope lift.

To be honest, I've always been a little perplexed why this info medium is
still using the rather archaic, slow, and sometimes downright frustrating
system of email exhange. A web forum would be so much better, on many
different levels. Somebody fill me in.
