Erik,
    You can replace the stab rods with carbon fiber, but unless you increase 
the diameter substantially, you will not have the same strength.  You MIGHT 
still have adequate strength, but you're taking your chances.  
    I wouldn't bother replacing the wing alignment pins with carbon.  The 
steel ones are much easier to remove if you ever need to (just heat them up 
with a soldering iron) and the weight saved there would be insignificant.
    One place you can save some weight is by replacing steel pushrods with 
carbon.  I do this on Emeralds that I build.  The weight saved in the rods, 
plus the reduction in noseweight is good for 2 ounces.
