The good news...you can build launch presets for your Multiplex Cockpit
Trannie. More good news...you will not have make any changes in the circut
board. Yet more good news...its a cheap fix and it will work.
Caution...you do need to know how to solder properly. If you do not know how
to solder...then dude learn how...it aint rocket sceince.
Overview:
Lets say we want to build an elevator preset. (We will cover rudder preset
later) Inside your cockpit radio there are a whole bunch of wires that end
up on the PC board. They are mated to the board using... guess what? The
very same connectors that we all use for our servos. There are TEN three pin
connectors pluged in and one FOUR pin connector. The elevator wire harness
is connected to pin group "D".
Here is the way this system works. All of the 5000 ohm pots are wired in
parallel. There is a pot for each of the function.
ie: one pot for the ele,... one for the rudder etc.
Each pot has three connections, a center tap...and two end points. The
center tap is in .... The center of the tow end points. see funky drawning.
X C X
the "C" is the center tap. In fact if you look inside of the trannie you
can actually see the solder points for each of the pots. What we are going
to do is add a new pot and a spdt switch to the circut...I did not say
REPLACE I said add a new pot. We will use the switch to add a new signal to
the circut board. The pot will be powered by the existing end points. (The
resistors of all the pots are in parallel) The center tap of the new pot
will be switched into the circut and the ele "C" will be switched out for as
lond as you hold down the switch.
Caution this is the overview. There are other issues. I will continue later.
I have not made the the chandes to my radio. I shall do so in a few
days...so you might want to wait and see...unless of course you "GET IT" but
there are issues so please feel free to call: 520-574-6887
issue: keep the pot reasonable in the "CENTER" the wiper only travels about
1000 ohms or so. Use a ONE K pot and tag each end of the ONE K pot with a
TWO K resistor on each end. So from left to right. 2 K resistor...One K
pot...2 K resistor....
Current levels are micro so wattage is not an issue.
