The best spoiler closing method is one I learned from Jeff Troy. He made a
very light torque tube in the leading edge of the spoiler, and I have never
had any other method even come close to working this well except servo
direct drive. Magnets, weights, springs, rubber bands are all second string
to direct drive or the torque tube method.

The best thing I have found for closing spoilers is dental rubber bands,
left over from when my kid had braces. They are small, tough, and seem to
last forever.
