I watched my friend Ron's car (granted it was a Sprint sized auto) literally get blown 
sideways on top of Bear River Ridge one day!
He sure put a LOT of lead in the SR-7 that day.

I think I have settled on an anemometer design I found at

I happen to have all the parts for it! I'll let the list know how it turns out.
