I've used coffee stirrers for pushrod housings on a V-tail HL.
This is the sort that is extruded with 2 convenient hollow sections,
not the solid swizzle-stick type.  On the same plane, pony tail
holders to hold down the removable V-tail.  These look like really
thin tiny rubber bands, not the colourful cloth-braided type and
certainly not the flouncy scrunches.  Very strong but they perish
quickly.
