Klint,
Hand launch! L little zip start (or a DLG). That is the way to go.
You will learn more from a hand launch than any other type of thermalling.
Yes, it requires some work, but with DLG, it is really not that bad. Plus
you can always us a small zip start.
The other good things. HLGs won't cause property damage unless you go
really ballistic with it! It has NO noise. It requires a lot less
investment in most cases. And they are cool :)
