While I would never dare to contradict the word of the good Doctor, I would like to offer another battery option.
Take a look at the sealed Optima Batteries. Both the yellow top and blue top batteries are deep cycle with the only apparent difference being the specific gravity of the electrolyte. The yellow top deep cycle battery has a SG of 1.342 and weighs 42.9 pounds while the blue top marine deep cycle battery ahs a SG of 1.32 and weighs in at 43.5 pounds. Both are totally sealed and maintenance free battery. They are reported to have great service life. The cool thing is that the completely sealed design allows them to be used in any orientation, so there are no worries about spilling acid all over everything. I'm getting one today for my winch.
