>>Someone suggested "build a slope", no joke Heck I live in California and I've often thought of this myself.
Keep in mind that you'll want a long slope. The longer the better. I found that a 300 foot long slope was less than I wanted for a mosquito class plane. My ideal slope is a hexagon shaped mesa with each side 1000 feet long or longer. It should be at least 500 feet above the surrounding area and have walls which slope at approx. 60 degrees. Also the top should have one tree so if you're going to crash you'll know where. Naturally, the above hypothetical slope would take an impractical amount of dirt. A somewhat more practical approach would be a simple berm shaped like an "L". Make it as high as you can and then size your planes to match whatever you build. Then invite me over to try it!
