Hello All! I got to vacuum bag (balsa sheeted) wings over the holidays and the 7035 HLG wings came out great! Far, far better than my first 3M77 balsa sheeted wings!
The other project I am working on is a Quasoar. I glued in all the wood spars and such, but wanted to add more strength so I ordered some 1" carbon laminates to supplement the wood spars. I ordered (based on articles I have read on the web and in RCSE archives) two thicknesses of .022" and .044". However, the .044 is pretty thick! If I were to bag the basla sheeting over them, I would have a raised ridge on the wing. So I am considering two choices - use my new dremel as a router to rout a 1" wide, .044" groove on the bottom over the current spar, or just use the 0.022" on the bottom by itself without any routing. The latter is basically the fast lazy way. What I ask myself is, why is it necessary to go further than just the one .022" addition when the supplied wood spars probably served just fine for many previous Quasoar builders? Is putting the laminate on the bottom the correct placement, or should it be on top if that was the only spar supplement I were to add?
