ZoneAlarm Personal Firewall is a great tool. Loosely it stops hackers
breaking into your computer, spyware breaking out, or mail borne virii from
being executed. The neat part is that it doesn't rely on virus definitions
to do it. The last 3 or so Outlook virii seem race around the globe faster
than the virii definitions could be determined and published. But they will
all be quarantined by ZoneAlarm.
Check it out - less intrusive and more useful than virus checkers IMHO
