I would not use 5-minute epoxy for much of anything.  I have used the
Z-poxy Finishing formula for repairs to my models.  I also use several
layers of glass in the .75 to 2 oz range.  If you can get to the inside as
youmentioned, you might be able to stabilize the crack with some CA.  Then
sand the inside with ruff sandpaper a clean with a good solvent.  Now
apply glass to the area starting with small peices and increasing in size
as you build up the layers.
