Hi Allen,
Two things seem to be apparent to me.One, you don't want to be over the turn around 
when zooming.
You have lost some of your altitude already.Draw an arc from launch to turn around and 
see where the hi arc really is It's probably
2/3rds of the way to the turnaround.
Scondly it sounds like you dove too steep. You don't want to dive straight down for a 
zoom.
Try45 or 50 degrees down for one full second, then go up at 50 or 60 degrees till the 
plane slows down and then level it out.
This takes practice but gets good launches.
