This is the way I programmed my 8103 on my ASH-27.  In fact, I have the 
retract and the tow release on one channel.  It needs to be on the gear 
switch to drive AUX3.  There isn't a way to disable that switch from 
driving AUX3.

My count of channels is like this (from memory):

1. Spoilers
2. Aileron 1
3. Elevator
4. Rudder
5. Aileron 2
6. Flap 1
7. Flap 2
8. Retract, tow release

To use an 8103 for a picolario, you'd have to combine either the flaps or 
ailerons on one channel.
