Morris, As I address this note, I am gonna copy the exchange on this as well, cause apparently some other people are having difficulty with the LSF web site and the Nomination process.
First of all,The Nomination Deadline Has not Expired. Nominations close October 31. If you are a level 1 or higher by August 31st this year, you can participate in this great excerise of American Freedoom. There are some typos on the form, on the LSF site, because I have another fella working on the site with me, because I can not get to the LSF Site to work on it from where I am working. A couple of mistake have been generated, that need to get fixed. I am the webmaster. Always have been.. We are, ALSO< having some host/site Scripting issues to work out, give us a couple of days to get it all resolved. The two year requirement is an legacy issue from when the LSF used to mail out nomination forms and election ballots to only those who have communicated with the LSF in the previous two years. This was an attempt to save the LSF money that did not work. In the past two election cycles this has not been an issue, because we have included everyone that was eligible. Since the LSF is not mailing ballots, but using the LSF site to (a) accept nominations, and then Ballots, or (b)the user may print the form from the site and mail it in (C) communicate with the membership at large. During this , (like the Last one, Nomination and Election cycle, if the electronic media is used, The LSF site will check your LSF Number against the database to validate your nomination and/or ballot, when we get the electronic issues resolved. Currently, as in the past election, you can print the Nomination / ballot form and mail to the address on the bottom of the form. This is what we are currently encouraging, until and after we get the electronic site running. To reduce the work load on the Election committee, we are asking that you Fill out the name and address completely, so that we can verify and update your records, and use one nomination form or piece of communication. You may also print a number of the up and distrubute them to your non Computerized / on-line LSF friends, so that they can mail them in as well. The form is a means of convience for you, if you want to scratch something on stone, then so be it.. Multiple Nominations and or ballots from the same person will not be accepted by the election committee, and the inital form will be discarded. We would not want anyone to stuff the ballot box, or scream other distasteful things now would we. This process was proven sucessful with the last round of elections. However, unfortunately there appears to be a group of guys who want to, let us say stress the system, by demanding that we return to the days of stone skins and bone knives, to satisfy their own personal ego. Send an e-mail to Jim Deck, The LSF Secretary, to update your file if you like. The nomination process is based on the entire LSF data base not including deceased people and Aspirants. I hope that this helps your understsanding of the process, and fixes some issues that some other people are causing. Whom ever that you nominate, be sure that they can fullfill the expections, of the Spirit and intent of the LSF. These last eight years the LSF has enjoyed great growth, and has made some great strides toward improving Soaring Communications, and the Soaring Nationals. Apparently people are crawling out of the wood work to run for LSF office. (Where have they been during the last 8 plus years) Some with an agenda of their own, and some with the only acceptable agenda, and that would be for SOARING at large, not on the local level. To satisfy other ignorance, being generated by some, The election committe, NOT me and not the Current LSF Board, has anything to do with the process, other than to set up the mechanics. The Election Committee will be posting the results, and updates on the LSF Site. Additionally, I am not running for an LSF Office. To enjoy the sucess that the current board has enjoyed, relationships have to be built, and these relationships can not be one way as well. These relationships will need to be revived by the new LSF Board. No need to go backwards, now is there, what we have achieved, works and works well? This has been a lot of work and personal expense for me, all in the name of Soaring, the joys and friendships that it has brought me over the last 8 years. Can your nomination do that? Then go for it... Thanlks for your dtat, and helping me set up this informational reply to others that may have the same issue.
