Gordy: Cross country racing is the target market, and the pilot (scale, TD, electric, or otherwise) who enjoys having pertinent information at his finger tips (especially when flying at extreme altitudes). Why have a vario for a seven minute TD duration task? Well thats up to the pilot, certainly it is a personal choice. One I won't argue.
You have obviously not heard this girls voicedefinitely not yapping. More like hi there big boy All announcement intervals are adjustable, and you have the switch in your hand to turn it off. As far as your slam on scale soaring enthusiasts, well, I think it was undeserved and a little sarcastic, dont you agree? This is the soaring exchange, not the Gordy opinion list right? You have openly criticized others for getting off topic, what does putting down scale have to do with flying, good fellowship, or the enjoyment of R/C soaring? See you at the Nats XC, or maybe the JR Aerotow? Hi John, Since the pilot can't hear or see the ELV (he 'can' look at it to see his alititude) he keeps his attention on his plane. His flying partner supplies the audible info to confirm what the pilot feels and see his sailplane indicating. Audibles are too convienent for contest flyers, they are like sirens on the reefs. Pilots get focus'd on trying to please that German girl, and often circle trying to get her to say something nice, versus doing their job looking for good air to work. For Scale Soaring having all that data logged would be great since scale soaring happens mostly on the ground in the years time. The few times most get to actually get their sailplanes up, I can see where packing that flight with all sorts of extra activity, like those offered by the full blown Sky Melody would really add to the fun! Thanks for the update on the Sky Melody...of course the feature every aspect of soaring is waiting for on all of them is real time reporting of airspeed (ground speed would even be better!) Gordy On the road toward Louisville RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
