Hi... some guys are organizing a thermal duration contest close to where I live for May 8th (three weekends from now), I never had been on a contest and as a fact I never had practiced seriously for such kind of landings, however, it sounds interesting to go and particpate just for fun and for whatever I can learn on such event.
these guys says the only rule is that we have to land 6 minutes after launch on a specific point of the field, there are no rules about the kind of sailplane we can use.... as far as I know, there will be no sophisticated sailplanes with composite wings.. what people most probably will use are just cheap and old balsa ailplanes like windrifter, spirits 2m, saggita, maybe some gentle lady, etc. so...I guess the most suitable sailplane I have for the contest is a Dynaflyte Bird of Time with wich I can do very aggresive zooms on the winch and it can be an advantage because all the other pilots I know would never dare to do a Zoom even if they have reinforced wings. the problem is that I have no spoilers on the wing... so I will have to work fast to solve it, so I can practice at least for the nex two weekends and that is the reason of this mail... I would appreciate any advice to install spoilers on my BOT. what would be the best size and location? should I use 2 microservos on the wing? (I want to make it easy and avoid cables that goes out of the wing. I wonder if somebody has some driagamas that could help me to build and install the spoilers. thanks in advance.
