And what AMA Air Show Team are you with? Technically, you are in violation of the AMA safety code, as I read it, unless they gave you a waiver.
Yeah, I AM a "wet blanket". I really, REALLY don't want to read the new headlines on tomorrow's FARK.com to say: "Good ol' boys blow up toy airplanes reel good for the 4th, cause fire, panic; jailarity/ suelarity ensues." Or, in the AP wire: "Model plane operators cause security panic with unannounced, simulated close-air support missions. FAA, Ashcroft move to ban the hobby." I think it's kind of selfish and irresponsible to rig these planes up in what I admit is a temptingly fun manner, and put at risk the good name of the sport, should some 'misadventure' ensue... My problem is with the pyro. I would not complain if you were just putting various lights and strobes on the planes and doing some dusk demos. But pyro is forbidden for non-airshow use by AMA rules a very good reasons. We don't need the potential negative PR when we're losing fields to developers and whack-job self appointed citizen killjoys left and right. Pyro accidents are the surest way to put us in the media spotlight in the worst possible shade of light. Have fun screwing up a good thing for all the rest of us, all you iconoclastic solipsists. And where's your hall pass, anyway?;-) RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
