I find Ultracote to be superior to Monocote in all aspects of covering. It will not “unshrink” if applied correctly. That said, it has a wider range of application characteristics than Monocote. You can apply and shrink it at low and medium temps, but you really should use high temp for the seams. The Ultracote instructions give you a good idea of the different method required to get the best results. I have a how to on my web page describing in detail how to cover Sheeted surfaces with Ultracote. When done properly it is nearly indistinguishable from a molded wing. I have had several planes for over 10 years and they have yet to wrinkle..

I wish others would talk about their techniques of apply the covering around curved structures, top and bottom, if they've worked out something that works well for them. The directions that come with the roll leave a lot to be desired.
