Launching is one area I just can not seem to get right. I've launched two sailplanes ever. Each one maybe 20 or 30 times. No more. A DAW TG-3 and a Global Hobbies Easy Answer. I was/am lucky that both are/were plenty strong. If I'd have been winching a Gentle Lady, or Oly II, or almost all stock woodies like a Paragon, I'd broken the wings a dozen times from throwing it too hard, or tensioning up the line too much, or not starting to rythmically tap the pedal soon enough, or any combination.
Then there are the times I don't throw it hard enough and stall it off the winch. Foamies bounce when you do that BTW. ESPECIALLY if you lay on the pedal thinking you can accelerate it to flying speed! :D There there is the 'throw it to the left', 'or to the right', or don't tension the line enough, or tension it too much and nearly rip the wings off, or I pop off early because I don't tap enough... just seem to generally screw up. Whereas most everyone else makes it seem effortless. I just figure it'll always be a bug-a-boo with me... ===== --------------------------------------- Jeffrey D.
