He's right and I was told that they re-structured their oversized rate. They use to charge for 30lbs. if your package was oversized, but it jumped to 70lbs a few years ago. I was told by UPS that the majority of business was 5lb. to 10lb. small packages from all of the E-commerce, so they structured their rate to account for how many of those packages would fit in the volume occupied by a single oversize package. They set it up so they would make the same $$ for a comparable shipping volume. FedEx bought out or contracted RPVI trucking for their ground division and their rate is similar to the UPS rate of 5 years ago. I have had good service from them.
