For those of you who don't use Volz Digitals, which is pretty much most of the world, since they have just been release for public use, you wouldn't know that one of the features of the Volz Digital Ampifier is memory.  Yep they keep track of the amount of time they have been 'on'.

I got two of the field test Micro Maxx X Digitals in February, but didn't get around to installing them into my Volz Powered Pike until March mid month.  Now I had some down time cuz of my catarach forming and the surgery, and I did use my alternate Pike for about a month of soaring, first to get it test flown and cuz I wanted a 'clean one' for certain events.

Which puts about 7 months or so on my primary Pike and the Volz Digitals on the flaps.

As the repair guy, I have access to the programming tool which allows all sorts of neat things, like turning on or off the 'failsafe' function. It works like PCM sort of...if the signal is lost but power is still supplied, the servos return to a pre chosen location.....like neutral. Handy for packing up the wings, just turn off the TX and the surfaces go to center.
OR the "burnout protection" feature which I turn on or off and set its activation point.  Okay say your plane lands in a corn field and the flap is hung up but the wonders that are digital are screaming at the servo to move, instead of the servo starting on fire like some brand digitals have, the Release function lets the servo relax, till the stick is cycled to re-initialize operation.
I would think this is a handy function for things like retract control on a scaley.

Another neat feature is the ability to adjust the resting growl out (Volz don't whine or buzz).

and lots of other options that would get the general modeling public in trouble.  But one that is very extra cool is the TIME USED memory.  Now programing anything is not all that interesting to me, much less hooking up servos and staring at a screen to see numbers, so I hadn't bothered with it till now, (now that they are available and a bunch of guys got some at Visalia at incredible deals).

Guess how many hours these two have been worked in my Pike?  94 hours !!!
Who flys more than me :-)  Volz Digitals will tell !

I can't believe she's gonna make me rake leaves tomorrow, I hardly got to fly this year :-(
