Perused the local WM this evening and ran across some interesting carbon arrow shafts and was wondering if anyone has tried these for HL or SAL.
6 years ago I made my HLGs with carbon arrow shafts. Worked fine until DLG came along - the torque would split the uni arrows. However, the current ones appear to have a spiral wrapping. Items are the 'Wolverine 50-60' and the 'Terminator 4560'. Might be different names at other locations. They are Korean made and claim to be spiral wrapped. A look at the surface appears to support the claim. The 4560 is apparently higher modulus and is a titch lighter. Both are nominally 0.300" OD and ~ 0.034" wall. With the fletching stripped off, they weigh ~ 18 - 20 g. They cost about $4 each and have ~ 28" usable length. Probably not rugged enough for competition but maybe for sport flying or smaller span SAL? Anyone looked at these? I'm gonna use them with those 'wormy' wings I've been making and see what happens. - Dave R RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
