Most likely cause is you did not clean your pushrod end before attaching it. They often have some oil inside them from the machining.

My favorite is to use the european 2mm pushrod ends with .080 carbon rods. Perfect fit compared to using the US stuff with .070 carbon rods which almost fit.

Crush end of the pushrod a little to fray it for a thigher fit. Sometimes you can do two crimps with cutters to add a mechanical fit in adddition to the glue.
