(More...) http://bit.ly/OgaXr6 THQ Launches Sequel To Darksiders ---- Agoura-based videogame maker THQ said today that it has released its sequel to Darksiders, Darksiders II, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PCs. The firm said the new title costs $59.99 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation, and $49.99 for PC. THQ will also be rolling out a Wii version of the game later this year. Darksiders is an apocalypse-themed action adventure game. LiveViewGPS Debuts Mobile Phone Location Service ---- Valencia-based LiveViewGPS, a developer of GPS tracking devices, said today that it has rolled out a new, mobile phone location service for cell phones. The firm said its new service, Mobile Phone Locate, is aimed at families and businesses, and helps them locate phones using both GPS and the cell phone network. The firm's services start at $7.95 per month. ADVENTRX Names Chief Medical Officer ---- San Diego-based ADVENTRX Pharmaceuticals announced this morning that it has named Santosh J. Vetticaden, M.D., Ph.D., as its new Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President. The firm said Vetticaden was most recently at Cubist Pharmaceuticals, and previously served at Maxygen, Scios, Aventis Pharmaceuticals, and American Home Products Corporation. The company said that in total, Vetticaden has over 25 years of experience in the field. ADVENTRX is developing a number of pharmaceuticals, including a lead product aimed at reducing ischemic tissue injury, and another for treating sickle cell disease. MaxLinear Adds QLogic's Desai To Board ---- Carlsbad-based MaxLinear said Monday afternoon that it has named HK Desai, the Chairman and former CEO of QLogic, to its board of directors. Desai currently is Chairman of data, server, and storage networking firm QLogic, and had been CEO from 1996 until 2010, and has been instrumental in guiding QLogic's growth. MaxLinear is a developer of radio frequency (RF) and mixed signal semiconductors. MaintenanceNet Expands Down Under ---- Carlsbad-based MaintenanceNet, the developer of sales channel management and service agreement renewal software, reported that it's expanding Down Under today. The firm said it has signed a new, value added distributor in Australia, Westcon Group Australia, who will offer its product to its resellers for free. Maintenancenet provides software which helps those resellers manage recurring, maintenance and IT contracts, helping them to know when those contracts are due and helping to proactively gain service renewals. Financial details of the deal was not announced by MaintenanceNet. YouMail Says Hola To Spanish Language Users ---- YouMail, the developer of personalized voicemail applications and services, said today that it has added complete, Spanish-language support to its platform, including supporting automatic Spanish-language voicemail greetings and transcriptions. YouMail said its new Youmail en Espanol software provides automatic interaction in Spanish, if the Android OS is set to use Spanish, and can automatically greet callers in Spanish, if a user wants. The service also says it now supports transcription of Spanish-speaking voice messages. YouMail is venture backed by VantagePoint Capital Partners, the Tech Coast Angels, the Tech Coast Angels ACE Fund, Siemer Ventures, and the CrunchFund, and is headed by Alex Quilici. ReachLocal Launches Retargeting For SMBs ---- Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal is looking to make search retargeting -- the targeting of consumers based on their prior Internet history -- available to the SMB market Monday morning, with the launch of a new product. The firm said its new ReachRetargeting, display advertising product will help SMBs target local consumers who have recently search for that SMB's business keywords, as well as those who have recently visited their site. Cost of the new product was not announced. Typically, retargeting has been a more expensive and difficult solution to implement for small and medium sized businesses; it looks as if ReachLocal is making to widen the use of that technology to its SMB customer base. ReachLocal said the new retargeting product is now available in the US and Canada. Goodreads Tops 10 Million Members ---- Goodreads, the online social community focused on book readers, looks to be on a roll. The Los Angeles firm, which is run by Otis Chandler, reported Monday that it now has 10 million members, only three months after hitting the 9 million member mark. The company said it took four and a half years for the site to hit its initial, five million members. The site did not say why it's seen a huge uptick in members, however, the company's services are now heavily used in libraries, social networking sites, and more to see user reviews of books, for looking up interesting titles, and discussion books with others. Goodreads said that its members have "shelved" more than 360 million books, meaning those readers have either marked them read, shared reviews, or added them to a list. More Bad News For Fisker As Karma Catches Fire ---- There's more bad news for Irvine-based electric auto maker Fisker Automotive this morning, as one of its Karma sedans caught fire in Woodside, California Friday. A video of the fire posted on YouTube shows the left front side of the Karma--which was parked--in flames, in a so-far unexplained self-ignition. Fisker has been dogged with reliability issues as it attempts to get its business off the ground, in many cases due to its use of A123's battery systems.
