Nimble Integrates With HootSuite
----
Santa Monica-based Nimble, the developer of social, contact
relationship management software-as-a-service, said this morning that
it has tied its service with HootSuite, which develops a social media
management product. Nimble said the move will allow users to connect
their social media efforts with social CRM. Nimble said the interation
allows users of HootSuite to transform limited social profiles into a
complete contact record, including conversation history and other
details, which can also be used by sales teams and others. The two
said the integration of the two products is available for free.

Somaxon Pharmaceuticals Acquired For $25M
----
San Diego-based Somaxon, a developer of treatments for insomnia, has
been acquired by Pernix Therapeutics Holdings, in a deal worth $25M.
According to the two companies, Pernix will acquire Somaxon in a
stock-for-stock transaction worth a total of $25M in total equity.
Pernix said the buy will help expand its product portfolio. Somaxon
had 12 months net sales of approximately $11.7M as of September 30th.
The company has been looking for a buyer since December of 2011, when
it drastically cut its staff and said it had hired an investment
banker. Somaxon was represented by Stifel Nicolaus Weisel in the
acquisition.

Everbridge Buys Chinese Firm
----
Glendale-based Everbridge, the provider of mass notification and other
communications tools, said today that it has acquired Hypersun Group
Ltd., an Internet and software engineering services firm headquartered
in Beijing. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. Everbridge
said that Hypersun has more than 35 engineering staff, and will help
provide it with a "deeper bench" of engineering expertise. As part of
the acquisition, Everbridge said it has appointed Hypersun's founder,
Yuan Cheng, as Senior Vice President of Engineering.

Cool Planet Energy Systems Snags CFO From Vonage
----
Camarillo-based biofuels firm Cool Planet Energy Systems has named a
new CFO, the company announced today. The firm said it has named Barry
L. Rowan as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer,
joining from Vonage Corporation, where he was EVP, CFO, and Chief
Administrative Officer. Rowan also has served at Nextel Partners. Cool
Planet Energy is venture backed by General Electric, Google Ventures,
BP, ConocoPhillips, NRG and Constellation Energy; the firm says it has
created technology which is able to produce carbon-negative biofuel
for less than $1.50 per gallon, using non-food biomass.

SV Angel's David Lee Heads To LA
----
Yet another, Silicon Valley venture capitalist is headed to Los
Angeles--this time, David Lee, co-founder and managing partner of
prolific angel investment fund SV Angel. The move apparently comes for
personal reasons for Lee, whose famly lives in Los Angeles.

Gores Buys Harris Broadcast Communications
----
Los Angeles-based private equity firm The Gores Group said yesterday
that it is acquiring Harris Broadcast Communications, a supplier of
hardware and software for managing and distributing video content, in
a deal worth $225M. Gores acquired the company from Harris
Corporation. Harris Broadcast Communications is based in Denver,
Colorado. Gores said the buy will help the division become a "strong
independent company".

ParkMe Formally Launches In LA, Santa Monica
----
Parkme, the Santa Monica-based startup which provides smartphone users
with real-time, parking information, said today that it has formally
launched its services in btoh Santa Monica and Los Angeles. The
company said that the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT)
has selected it to help enhance the LA Express Park program, offering
real time parking informtaion on parkin meters, prices, hours of
operation, and more; in addition, the firm said th the City of Santa
Monica is planning to roll out its own parking application, which will
show real-time availability of all parking meters and occupancy at
public facilities. ParkMe was founded by Sam Friedman and Alex Israel.

Honey Provides Chrome Users With Savings Shortcut
----
Are you a user of the Chrome web browser? Busy doing your holiday
shopping? A newly launched, Chrome extension, Honey--developed by a
Pasadena-based startup--is making it a lot easier for you to find
those online coupon deals and discount codes. Honey, which installs
alongside your Chrome browser, automatically looks up coupon codes for
such popular e-commerce sites like Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble,
Zulily, Target, and others. According to the firm, it just hit 60,000
installs for the plugin. Honey's plugin detects when users are
checking out of the different stores it tracks, and then presents a
list of coupon codes just as a user is checking out, and finds the
best one to use for that purchase.  Honey was co-founded by Ryan
Hudson and George Ruan.

Vyclone Powers Documentary Effort
----
Los Angeles-based Vyclone, the developer of mobile video collaboration
software, said it is powering a new effort to create a massive
documentary on "the human experience". Vyclone--which creates a mobile
app which makes it easy to co-create, share, and sync multiple
videos--said that it is working with documentary film event "One Day
on Earth", where people can record and submit their live of December
12th (12/12/12). Those videos will be wrapped into a feature length
documentary. One Day on Earth says it is creating a "unique video time
capsule" of life on earth. Vyclone's app include such features as
collaborative editing of videos, synchronization of video content from
the same event, tagging, filters, and more.

Sonos Now Streams Music Directly From iPhone, iPad
----
Users of the Sonos whole-house, wireless audio systems will be happy
with one of the newest features from the Santa Barbara company: the
ability to stream music directly stored in a user's iPhone, iPad, or
iPod touch devices to a Sonos speaker or player. Sonos rolled out the
update to its software last week, making it much easier to get music
stored on the various Apple devices directly to the Sonos systems.
Previously, there was not a way to directly stream music stored on the
various iOS devices to the Sonos speakers and players, even though you
could control the playback of music stored elsewhere on the Sonos
systems. Santa Barbara-based Sonos is well known for their highly
connected, and user-friendly wireless audio systems.

Broadcom: Study Shows Different Connectivity Personalities, Types
----
Are you an "Always On", "Social Skimmer", or one of seven personality
types, when it comes to connecting to the digital world? Irvine-based
Broadcom just released a study that the firm says helps to define the
ways we connect into digital life. Broadcom released its study--along
with a way to find out what personality type you are--Monday morning,
saying that the segment of the population most likely to be connect
are female or a Millennial (ages 18-31), with those that are male, and
who are ages 45-64 and above least likely to be connected. Broadcom
did not say who it commissioned to run the survey, or any of the
statistical validity of its survey.
