THQ Details Buyers, Numbers After Fire Sale
----
Troubled Agoura Hills-based videogame maker THQ has officially been
broken up into pieces and sold, according to the firm Wednesday
evening, after a U.S. Bankruptcy Court has granted a motion to approve
a sale of the majority of THQ's assets to multiple buyers. THQ
detailed the sale Wednesday night, saying the company's estate will
receive approximately $72M in total through the sales of its owned
studios and games in development. (More...)

Retention Science Links With Magento
----
Santa Monica-based Retention Science, the developer of big data
software being used to help e-commerce companies covert more
customers, has linked into e-commerce engine Magento, the firm is
announcing today. Magento said that it has added a new extension to
Magento called the "Customer Profiling Engine", which will help online
stores with automating personalized retention campaigns for customers.
Retention Science--which is out of the MuckerLab accelerator, and
headed by Jerry Jao--is applying "big data" to hone the types of
offers presented to consumers, using predictive algorithms and parsing
through data on a store's sales, a user's online behavior, and more.
Retention Science said the new extension is available through
Magento's Connect Marketplace.

FutureLogic Names New CFO
----
Glendale-based FutureLogic, the manufacturer of thermal ticket
printers, announced yesterday that it has named Tony Shepherd as its
new Chief FInancial Officer. Shepherd has previously served at
PricewaterhouseCoopers, FTI Consulting, ExtruMed, Trinity Capital, and
Barrington Associates. Former CFO Jon Huntley joins the company's
board of directors. FutureLogic said Shepherd will oversee corporate
finance and accounting, HR and IT.

THQ Chopped Into Tiny Pieces, Scattered To The Winds
----
Bankrupt Agoura Hills-based videogame publisher THQ has been chopped
up into pieces, and scattered to the winds, after an auction sale of
the firm's assets Wednesday. According to a letter to THQ employees
from CEO Brian Farrell, obtained by Kotaku, THQ did not go to a single
bidder in a 22 hour auction process yesterday--and instead, will be
going to multiple bidders. The letter said that Sega agreed to
purchase Relic; Koch Media agreed to purchase Volition and Metro;
Crytek agreed to purchase Homefront; Take 2 agreed purchase Evolve
and; Ubisoft agreed to purchase Montreal and South Park. THQ had hoped
to sell THQ to Clearlake Capital or another buyer, but apparently
found that the separately sold assets would net more than a single
buyer. Farrell said that THQ now expects those sales to close this
week. THQ said that employees not included in the sale would lose
their jobs. THQ filed for bankruptcy in December.

OneRoof Energy Lands $30M From South Korean Investor
----
San Diego-based OneRoof Energy, an operator of residential solar
finance programs, said Wednesday that it has raised an additional $30M
in a funding round. The round came from current investor Hanwha Group,
which is based in South Korea. According to OneRoof, the new funding
will go towards business development, including to expand into new
markets, develop new proprietary technologies and strengthen dealer
support. OneRoof said it expects to supply solar power to more than
10,000 homes in 2013. OneRoof Energy is a provider of power purchase
agreement (PPA) financing for solar power, where investors foot the
upfront capital for installing solar power systems, with homeowners
then agreeing to pay a set rate--usually lower than their current
utility bill--for power generated from those solar panels installed on
their roof.

SteelHouse Trumpets Conversion Rates
----
Los Angeles-based SteelHouse, the developer of advertising targeting
and behavioral marketing technology, is showing off some of its
conversion rates, saying today that its clients are seeing 21 percent
click through rates by using its technology. The firm develops
technology to better target online consumers based on their behavior,
allowing brands to retarget and otherwise engage with possible
customers. SteelHouse said that its rich media A2 ad format--being
used by brands such as Rosetta Stone, Figi's Creative Labs, and
Monoprice--offers up nearly four times higher conversion rates for its
customers. Steelhouse is backed by Qualcomm Ventures, Daher Capital,
Baroda Ventures, Greycroft Partners, and Rincon Venture Partners.

Hackathon Targets Orange County Web Developers
----
In one of the newest "hackathons" to hit Southern California, a group
of companies are looking to draw Orange County software developers to
a new hackathon, geared around WebRTC, the open "Web Real Time
Communications" framework aimed at helping developers create voice and
video chat applications. Huntington Beach-based AnyMeeting, the
provider of web conferencing tools, Influxis, a live streaming and
real time application hosting provider, as well as TokBox, which
develops an online video platform, are all backing the Anymeeting Web
RTC Hackathon, being held at Chapman University next Saturday, January
26th. The companies said they will award a grand prize of $5,000 to
the winning entry into the hackathon, which takes advantage of the
WebRTC standard in a project, product, or service.

models serve different purposes and which one is right for you? TCVN is
proud to bring together this extraordinary panel of individuals who will
shed light on the differences between incubators and accelerators and
empower entrepreneurs in reaching their goals. Join us for this
