The firm said the new support allows companies to support the mobile web, in addition to the company's existing, native apps for the iPhone, iPad, and Android. Burbank-based Beachfront Media offers up tools to help content publishers publish their videos to the Internet and to mobile platforms; the company also operates the video discovery engine Mefeedia. The (More...) http://bit.ly/UTaTCb The Gores Group Buys Harris Broadcast Communications ---- Los Angeles-based private equity firm The Gores Group said Monday afternoon that it has acquired Harris Broadcast Communications, a supplier of hardware and software to create, manage, transmit, and distribute video content. The deal had been announced in December, and was worth $225M. Harris Broadcast Communications was formerly a division of Harris Corporation, and will become its own, stand-alone company with the deal. Harris Broadcast Communications said it will use the buy to "move the business forward" and help drive innovation, streamline operations, and improve customer service. ServiceNow Wins Holland America ---- San Diego-based enterprise IT management software provider ServiceNow reported this morning that it has been selected by Holland America Line, to help automate the cruise operator's corporate and fleet IT services. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. ServiceNow said its software is being used by Holland America to consolidate its IT systems and automate its enterprise operations. ServiceNow's enterprise IT software is used by help companies automate their business and IT processes; the firm has been one of Southern California's big IT software success stories, having had an IPO last year in June. LifeProof Sets Marketing Head ---- San Diego-based protective case maker LifeProof said this morning that it has named Alan Cohen as its Chief Marketing Officer. Cohen joins the company from real estate and shopping center operator Westfield, and also has served at Gemstar-TV Guide and Napster. LifeProof develops and markets protective cases for smartphones and tablets.
