How Let's Date Is Taking On Mobile Dating, With Sean Suhl
----
There's a big shift happening in online dating, away from websites and
profiles, and towards mobile applications. In fact, according to Sean
Suhl, the founder of Let's Date (www.letsdateapp.com), it's completely
opened up a brand new market for how people are finding romance, as
singles move away from legacy dating sites and towards new, mobile
dating services like his own. Suhl's startup--backed by Science Inc.,
the startup studio headed by former MySpace CEO Mike Jones--recently
launched, and, ahead of Valentine's day, is hoping that love-minded
singles will connect through its app.

San Diego-based DriveCam, the developer of driver monitoring systems
for commercial automobile fleets, said this morning that it has
received a strategic investment from Volvo Group. Financial details of

Verve Mobile Lands $14M From Qualcomm, Others

Verve Mobile, a developer of location-based, mobile advertising
services, said today that it has raised $14M in a Series C funding.
The firm--which has an office in Carlsbad, but is based in New
York--said that Qualcomm and Nokia are new investors in the company.

MomentFeed Confirms Funding
----
Location-based analytics company MomentFeed, which is in Los Angeles,
has confirmed the details of its funding round, saying that the $1.8M
raised by the firm earlier this month came from existing investors
Gold Hill Capital, DFJ Frontier, DFJ-JAIC Venture Partners, Double M
Capital, Daher Capital, Gil Elbaz, Clark Landry, and Walter Kortschak.
MomentFeed's software is being used by retailers to better analyze,
understand, and manage the social media activity around a retailer's
physical locations, on such sites as Foursquare, Facebook, Instagram,
and Twitter. MomentFeed's software is being used by multi-store chains
to both manage and understand that activity around their locations.

Ticketmaster Debuts Digital Ticket Transfer

Los Angeles-based ticketing firm Ticketmaster is making it easier for
users to transfer their tickets to other people, electronically,
through a new service, Digital Ticket Transfer. According to
Ticketmaster, its new digital ticket transfer service lets users send
all kinds of tickets to others, by invalidating and reissuing bar
codes. Ticketmaster said the new feature will let users receive new
digital ticket barcodes or new, print-at-home tickets. Ticketmaster
said the service will be free.

ACTIVE Network Debuts Mobile App For Racing Events

ACTIVE Network, the developer of cloud-based sports registration and
related services, said today that it has launched a new, mobile app
aimed at racing directors. The San Diego firm said its new ACTIVE
On-site mobile app helps race directors manage on-site check-in,

Santa Monica-based Cornerstone OnDemand has joined the club of local
high tech companies to cross the $100M in annual revenues mark, after

SnapCuts Now Lets Users Upload Videos

Snapcuts, the Pasadena-based startup which develops a mobile video app
of the same name which lets users mix and match videos to create
personalized video greeting cards, has just released an update to the

Sonos Debuts New Product For HDTV
----
Sonos, the developer whole home, user-friendly audio systems, has
debuted a new product, aimed at HDTV owners. Sonos said its new SONOS
PLAYBAR was designed as a complement to home theaters, and plugs into
a TV and any Sonos component. The new device also connects into the
Sonos controller apps for the iPhone, Android, and iPad, allowing
users to stream music, watch TV, and more. Sonos said the new product
is now available for pre-order, and is due to be available on March
5th; the new PLAYBAR is priced at $699.

Microsoft Opens Xbox Studio In Los Angeles

Santa Monica has just gotten yet another boost in its bid to become
the capital of Silicon Beach, as Microsoft said this week that it is
opening up a new, 125-person strong entertainment studio in the city
as part of an effort to create interactive content for the Xbox.
