connected via media-rich devices like smartphones and tablets, it would
stand to reason that we would feel more connected. But we don't. In fact,
studies now suggest that we have never been lonelier. And this loneliness
is cutting us off from each other with every tweet, text or update. In
this illuminating and entertaining presentation, award-winning brand
expert and BrandU co-creator Kim Castle shares simple yet powerful
solutions for inspiring and fostering real connection once again--without
getting rid of the devices that we have grown to love and depend on. It
all starts with a tingle. See

May 1, Santa Monica -- Company Culture Design for Startups. Coloft Academy.
The phrase “company culture” is getting thrown around a lot these days,
usually followed by words like “Google,” “Zappos,” “ping-pong table,”
“organic employee cafeteria” and “20% time.” But what if culture isn’t
REALLY about “perks," but is actually something much more powerful —
something that can be designed like an architect would design a building
or a landscaper would craft a beautiful backyard? This session will show
you why culture is one of the most powerful competitive advantages a
startup or small business can leverage, and why the time to start thinking
about culture is RIGHT NOW (though yesterday would be even better). See
