Size of that funding was not disclosed. The firm said the funding came from 37 Technology Ventures, Jackrel Ventures, Tech Coast Angels, Maverick Angels, Keiretsu Forum, and other angels. Financial details of the link were not announced. According to the two, they will work together to further develop business fundraising opportunities, and help companies that have traditionally been unable to benefit from the services for an investment bank. WestPark Capital is also based in Los Angeles, and says it is focused on emerging growth sectors such as healthcare, software, technology, biotechnology, financial services, manufacturing, consumer products, and the media and telecom industries. SBIR Source Launches New Research Tool ---- Los Angeles-based SBIR Source, which maintains an online database of grant opportunities from the Federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, said this morning that it has launched a new product, GrantIQ. The company said it has an "extensive database" of SBIR awards and participants, which can be used to find background information on grant applicants. The company said its data can be used by startups and small tech companies looking for R&D grants, to write more targeted proposals and to understand the competition and needs of Federal agencies. Fandango Powers Special Feature For Visa Signature ---- Fandango, the movie ticketing service and mobile app provider, said Wednesday that it is powering a new, mobile ticket app feature specifically for customers of Visa. Los Angeles-based Fandango said that it has launched TIXPRESS, a new mobile ticket app feature for only Visa Signature account holders. The new feature allows Visa Signature account holders to find theaters, list movies, and purchase those movie tickets form a single check-out page. Fandango said the new feature will be limited to only Visa Signature account holders through August 31st, 2013. The advertising and branding deal also includes special promotions on movie tickets on Friday; discounted gift cards, and more. Visa Signature is the credit card company's "premium" account level. DreamHost Readies Wider OpenStack Rollout ---- Los Angeles-based web and cloud hosting provider DreamHost looks to be readying its OpenStack cloud offering, DreamCompute, for wider consumption, after showing off the service at the OpenStack Summit in Portland last week. However, it looks like those original series--and Amazon's other streaming video offerings--might end up on your television set, after all--later this year. A report today from Bloomberg says that Amazon.com is planning to release its own, set-top TV box later this year, which will bring the company's streaming video services directly to living rooms. (More...) http://bit.ly/14PUW6B Focus@will Launches Paid Subscriptions ---- Los Angeles-based Focus@will, the operator of the music streaming service aimed at helping users become more productive, said Wednesday that it has is launching its paid subscription service to consumer tomorrow. According to the startup, which is headed by Will Henshall, the new subscription will cost $3.99 a month or $34.99 a year. The startup's service revolves around finding music that helps users concentrate on work, studying, or other intensive activities, with the idea that the right kind of music can help extend the concentration of users. The company claims its service helps increase attention span up to 400 percent while working, studying, writing and reading. Focus@will said it also plans to released Android and iOS versions of the service soon. FreedomPop Expands Nationally Via Sprint ---- FreedomPop, the free, broadband wireless Internet company led by Stephen Stokols, said Wednesday morning that it has expanded its service via Sprint's 3G network. The funding came from Escalate Capital Partners and Silicon Valley Bank. Silverpop is venture bcaked by D.E. Shaw & Co and Draper Fisher Jurveston. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. According to GreenCupboards, it has acquired all of the assets of EcoMom, including its trademarks, domain names, social media, customer lists and inventory. As part of the acquisition, GreenCupboards said it will rename itself etailz, Inc. GreenCupboards said it will relaunch EcoMom in early summer of 2013.
