Why Mucker Capital Is Putting More Money To Work In LA Startups
----

For the last few years, startup accelerator MuckerLab has been helping
very early stage companies define and grow their businesses, using the
accelerator model and small investments to get companies to the next
stage. Recently, the team behind MuckerLab has made a subtle
shift--becoming Mucker Capital (www.muckercapital.com)--focusing on
seed stage investments. We caught up with Erik Rannala, co-founder of
both, to understand the move and why Mucker Capital felt like it
needed to put more capital to work in local, seed stage startups.

Talk about the shift from MuckerLab to Mucker Capital?

Erik Rannala: We haven't so much made a shift, in a sense that we're
doing what we've always been doing, which is seed stage investing in
companies. What we've done now is ramp up the size of our seed
investments, and started to do more of them. (More...)

Fitwall Finds Funding From Skechers Cofounder
----
Newport Beach-based Fitwall, the operator of technology driven,
wearable-connected fitness centers, said today that it has scored an
investment from one of the co-founders of Skechers. Fitwall said it
has received a "sizeable round" of funding form Jeff Greenberg, who
co-founded Skechers USA. Size of the investment was not announced.

Illumina Buys Myraqa
----
San Diego-based life sciences equipment maker Illumina said this
morning that it has acquired Myraqa, a company providing regulatory
and equality consulting in the molecular diagnostics market. Financial
terms of the buy were not announced. According to Illumina, the deal
will bolster its in-house capabilities and help prepare for growth.
Myraqa was based in Redwood Shores, California.

Iteris Swaps CFO, Reports Accounting Issues
----
Santa Ana-based Iteris, which develops traffic management products and
technology, said late Tuesday that it has replaced its CEO, and may
face a "material weakness" in its internal controls over financial
reporting. The company said it has named Craig Christensen as its
interim CFO. (More...)

Evolve Media Launches New Native Video Advertising Product
----
Los Angeles-based Evolve Media reported late last night that it has
launched a new, native video advertising product called INgage. Evolve
Media said that the new, video solution delivers "large format" video
within content, startup up when a users comes into view. The company
said its new product brings video out of the "right rail blind spot"
on websites. Native advertising is the technique of wrapping
advertising within website content, making it look and feel like
non-paid content--which is controversial from the editorial
standpoint, but very effective for advertising and revenues at
companies.

Sonos Drops Support For iOS 4, 5
----
Whole home music system developer Sonos is dropping support for
Apple's iOS 4 and 5, the company told its users Tuesday, meaning that
the company's systems will no longer work with first generation iPad,
iPhone 3G, and second and third generations of the iPod Touch.
According to Sonos, the move comes as it looks to "balance our need to
innovate with our desire to maintain support for older devices". Sonos
said it now will only support iOS devices running iOS6 or higher.
Apple's iOS 4 was introduced in 2010; iOS 5 was launched in 2011.
Sonos is based in Santa Barbara.

Snapchat Rolls Out Geofiltering Feature
----
Los Angeles-based Snapchat said Tuesday morning that it has rolled out
a new feature called geofiltering, which highlights snaps taken in
special locations. The feature--which includes highlights of locations
in Los Angeles like Disneyland, Malibu, Santa Monica, LACMA, and
elsewhere--features snaps that change depending on what neighborhood
you are current at.

----
Buying a new home? A new mobile app from Irvine-based Homefacts is
helping prospective home buyers uncover neighborhood information like
education, median income, school ratings, and more--including such
dirty laundry as nearby registered sex offenders, crime, risk of
earthquakes and tornadoes--not to mention drug lab locations.
