Edico Genome Finds $10M For Gene Sequencing Chips
----
San Diego-based Edico Genome, a developer of semiconductor
specifically aimed at genome mapping, has raised $10M in a Series A
funding, the company announced this morning. According to the company,
the funding was led by Qualcomm Ventures, and also included Axon
Ventures and angel investor Greg Lucier (Life Technologies). Edico
Genome develops an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC)
specifically aimed at sequencing and bioinformatics applications. The
company said its ASIC reduces the time spent to analyze a whole home
genome from 24 hours down to 18 minutes.

Renovate America Finds $50M For Clean Energy Financing
----
San Diego-based Renovate America, which provides financing for
residential, clean energy projects, said it has raised $50M in equity
from both new and existing investors. Renovate America said the round
was led by Valor Equity Partners, and also included Macquarie,
RockPort Capital and Spring Creek. Renovate America works to provide
financing to homeowners for such projects as solar power installation,
energy efficient HVAC installations, new windows, and roofing, all in
conjunction with local municipalities. Renovate America said its HERO
financing program has so far financed over $250M in projects.

3TEN8 Gets $250K
----
3TEN8, a company which is developing software to help mobile network
operators visualize and manage their network performance, and which
was part of both LaunchpadLA and the SAM Precellerator Programs in Los
Angeles, has raised $250,000 in funding. The seed funding came from
the Citrix Startup Accelerator Seed Program. 3TEN8 is now
participating in the twelve month Citrix program in Silicon Valley.

Pulse Electronics Loses CEO
----
San Diego-based electronics components provider Pulese Electronics
reported late Wednesday that its Chairman and CEO, Ralph E. Faison,
has resigned. The company said it has appointed Alan H. Benjamin as
Interim CEO of the company. Benjamin was the company's Chief Operating
Officer. According to Pulse, its board has launched a search for a
permanent CEO. In a prepared statement, Faison said it was the "right
time" for a new CEO at the company.

Kofax Wins $3.5M Deal
----
Irvine-based Kofax, the provider of document capture and related
products, reported late Wednesday that it has won a $3.5M deal with a
Fortune 1000 company. According to Kofax, the un-named, information
storage and management provider is expanding its existing Kofax
software installation. Kofax said the customer paid $3.0M in software
licenses and over $500,000 in maintenance fees.

CallFire Names CFO
----
Santa Monica-based CallFire, the provider of cloud-based text and
voice services which is led by Ron Burr, has named a new CFO.
According to the company, it has named Tridivesh Kidambi as Chief
Financial Officer. Kidambi was most recently at Demand Media, where he
had been serving as Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations.

Siemer Ventures Raises $45M Fund, Becomes Wavemaker Partners
----
Santa Monica-based Siemer Ventures said Wednesday that the venture
capital fund has launched a new, $45M third fund, and rebranded itself
as Wavemaker Partners. The new fund is larger than the company's
second fund, which was raised in 2011 and was worth $28M. According to
Wavemaker Partners, the new fund will be focused on mobile services,
Internet, and software. Siemer said it will make around 25-30 new
investments globally per year across its focus areas. The announcement
came as the firm kicked off its annual summit in Santa Monica
Wednesday morning.
