One of Southern California's big success stories -- from startup, to venture funding, and a recent IPO--is Los Angeles-based TrueCar, which had its IPO in May. We spoke with Scott Painter, CEO and founder of the company--and already a successful serial entrepreneurs--about the journey from startup to public company, lessons learned, and his advice to CEOS who might be thinking about an IPO for their own company. Congratulations on the IPO. You've create success companies now quite a few times, how did this time go for you, and what kind of advice might you give entrepreneurs thinking about the public path? Scott Painter: It's interesting. The process of going public is a unique thing. The startup--which is backed by Siemer Ventures, and has ties to Southern California--receive funding from IMJ Investment Partners, Beenos, Siemer Ventures, and Golden Gate Ventures. Ayannah has offices in Laguna Hills, but is based in Pasiq City, the Philippines. http://www.socaltech.com/intelligence/?action=showdeal&id=58794 Fullscreen Launches Live Festival ---- Los Angeles-based Fullscreen, the YouTube multi-channel-network (MCN), is going live, saying that it has launched a live, "interactive social festival" which will feature YouTube and Vine stars. Fullscreen says it has tied with festival producer Kevin Lyman and 4Fini, which runs the Warped Tour, to launch INTOUR, a social festival which will feature live performances, music, games, and more from those YouTube stars. The festival will feature such artists as Connor Franta, Ricky Dillon, Jc Caylen, (More...) http://www.socaltech.com/fullscreen_launches_live_festival/s-0056038.html Broadcom Gets Win In India ---- Irvine-based semiconductor maker Broadcom reported a win today for its cable chipsets, saying that its DOCSIS 3.0 chipset is behind a new broadband deployment in India. (More...) http://www.socaltech.com/broadcom_gets_win_in_india/s-0056039.html Leadbolt Launches Mobile Advertising Exchange ---- Los Angeles-based Leadbolt, the app discovery and monetization startup led by Dale Carr, said today that it has launched a new mobile ad marketplace. Leadbolt said the new ad exchange is called Leadbolt Connect, and will allow mobile app developers and marketers to to connect on ad campaign offerings. The company said its marketplace will offer more transparency, flexibility and control than traditional blind-networks, with a focus on delivering better quality than RTB platforms. RFaxis Ramps Chip Production ---- Irvine-based semiconductor developer RFaxis reports this morning that it has ramped up production of a new chip, focused on the Zigbee and Internet of Things (IoT) market. The company said it is ramping production of its RFX1010 Braodband CMOS RFeIC, which is a CMOS RF Front-end Integrated Circuit (RFeIC) which is used in 802.11ah and ZigBee designs. The company said the chips are aimed at supporting such things as wireless mesh networking products for the Internet-Of-Things and similar designs. Omnitracs Moves To Texas ---- In an unsurprising--albeit, still painful--move, San Diego-based fleet management software developer Omnitracs is moving its headquarters, and a significant number of jobs, to Dallas, Texas. The move--which has been in the works since at least February--follows the company's acquisition by Vista Equity Partners back in August of 2013. Omnitracs was formerly part of Qualcomm. Texas Governor Rick Perry said the state paid $3.9M in an investment in Omnitracs to spur the move, which takes 450 jobs out of San Diego. Omnitracs is the third, major San Diego employer lost to Texas as a result of an acquisition by Vista Equity Partners, which so far has acquired and moved Websense, Active Network, and Omnitracs all out of San Diego and to Texas. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- MARKETPLACE Reach 10000+ readers for 5 days for $250 Post your marketplace ad at: http://www.socaltech.com/postad.html ------------------------------ADVERTISEMENT------------------------------- Key Info Key info (http://www.keyinfo.com) infrastructure ~ connectivity ~ co-location ~ cloud ------------------------------ADVERTISEMENT------------------------------- Apply Today For NewCo's Inside-Out Conference NewCo is the "inside out" conference model where attendees use the working city as the event space, and companies open their doors to welcome the community into their offices for a one hour tour, conversation, or informational session.
