(More...) http://www.socaltech.com/los_angeles_sues_uber/s-0058165.html NextVR Powers New Coldplay Virtual Reality Concert ---- Laguna Beach-based NextVR, which is developing virtual reality capture technology aimed at bringing rock concerts, sporting events, fashion shows, and other events to users via immersive, virtual reality, said it has released its first, content release. NextVR said it has released a virtual reality title with the band Coldplay, entitled Coldplay's Ghost Stories Virtual Reality Concert Experience. The company said it filmed the entire concert in VR. NextVR said the entire concert was filmed on stage, allowing users to view band members as if they were on stage at the concert. NextVR said a clip of the first song, A Sky Full of Stars, will be available via an app on the Samsung Gear VR headset. Broadcom Ups Revenue Guidance, Dividends ---- Irvine-based Broadcom said Tueday that it is raising its revenue guidance fro the fourth quarter of 2014, saying it now expected revenues of approximately $2.075 to $2.150 billion, and also increased its dividends and stock buyback efforts. According to the company, it is increasing its quarterly dividend by $0.02 per share, and has authorized $1 billion in share buybacks in 2015. Broadcom said the updates came due to strength in the company's core businesses. Broadcom supplies a wide range of semiconductors into the market, and in particular offers up components widely used in smartphones and tablets. PTI Marketing Technologies Acquired By Ricoh ---- Solana Beach-based PTI Marketing Technologies, a developer of a software-as-a-service, marketing and collateral management tool, has been acquired by office equipment and technology company Ricoh Company, Ltd.. Exact financial terms of what Ricoh described as a "multi-million" dollar acquisition were not announced. Ricoh was already an investor in PTI, having made an investment in the company in August of 2012. Ricoh said the buy will help the companies continue to develop new marketing collateral management tools for enterprise and commercial printers. PTI will continue to be headed by President and CEO Coleman Kane, and continue with its existing management team, structure, and office in Solana Beach. CrowdStrike Names VP Engineering ---- Irvine-based security and threat intelligence software developer CrowdStrike has named Amol Kulkarni as the company's new Vice President of Engineering, the company said Tuesday. Kulkarni was most recently at Microsoft, and had been responsible for the knowledge platform at Bing, and also had worked on Windows Azure and BizTalk Server. CrowdStrike said Kulkarni will oversee the company's engineering organization and customer-facing technology infrastructure. The company said the move will help it better serve its long standing customers on the East Coast. Impact Radius is led by startup veteran Per Pettersen, and also recently opened up an office in London. The company says its customers are primarily in the financial services, retail, and travel industries, with such customers as American Airlines, Cabela's, Deckers, Shutterstock, Tommy Hilfiger and Wayfair. ReachLocal Expands Reporting Tools ---- Woodland Hills-based online marketing services and software developer ReachLocal, which offers up its services to local businesses, said yesterday that it has added a number of analytics and reporting tools to its platform. According to ReachLocal, it has added new third-party campaign result measurement, and multi-location alert and reporting capabilties to its ReachEdge digital marketing product. The company said the new tools will give customers information on ROI of their various online marketing efforts. DB Networks Finds $17M For Network Security Software ---- Carlsbad-based DB Networks, a developer of cyber security software aimed at corporate networks, has raised $17M in a funding round, the company said this morning. The funding was led by Grotech Ventures, and also included Khosla Ventures and Citi Ventures. According to DB Networks, Grotech's Joe Zell joins the company's board with the funding. DB Networks, which is led by Brett Helm, said it uses behavioral analysis technology to help its customers gain insights and situational awareness of their dataabse security and core networks. Helm was previously CEO and Chairman of Coradiant, until it was acquired by BMC Software.
