SpaceX had hoped to launch its CRS-5 mission to the ISS at 6:20am EST today, but scrubbed the launch about 90 second before it was to depart from the launch pad. SpaceX's next launch window is 5:09 a.m. on Friday from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. jBase is a cloud-based, database product which connects applications built on the Pick operating system with SQL Server, Oracle, and the cloud. Zumasys said the acquisition is the fourth, Pick-related acquisition by the company in recent months; the firm also acquired AccuTerm, MultiValue Dashboard, and OpenQM, three other companies developing software for the Pick operating system market. Temenos is based in Switzerland. RealD Names Exec ---- Los Angeles-based 3D theater projection technology provider RealD said today that it has named Anthony Marcoly as the company's new President, Worldwide Cinema. Marcoly was previously President, Paramount Pictures International, and also spent over 26 years at The Walt Disney Company. His last position at Disney was President, International Theatrical. MaxLinear Wins Hitron ---- Carlsbad-based RF and mixed signal IC provider MaxLinear has scored a design win with telecommunications networking company Hitron Technologies, saying that Hitron is using its chips for a new family of DOCSIS products. MaxLinear said Hitron is using its MxL268 Full-Spectrum Capture (FSC) 32-channel digital cable front-end receiver and the MxL231 programmable gain amplifier (PGA) as part of a new family of products for the cable market. Expected shipment volumes and financial impact of the win were not announced. Oversee.net Sells Off DomainFest ---- Los Angeles-based Oversee.net has sold off its flagship DomainFest conference (More...) http://www.socaltech.com/oversee_net_sells_off_domainfest/s-0058388.html Pasadena Angels Racked Up Four Exits, Closed 17 Deals in 2014 ---- The Pasadena Angels, one of the most active organized angel investment groups in the Los Angeles area, released some details on the groups' 2014 performance over the holidays, saying that it saw a total of four exits--including a $100M exit over at Bluebeam--and closed 17 deals during the year. The group said it provided $4.7M in new funding for its portfolio companies. The group said the 17 deals it completed during the year were split into 10 new investments, and 7 follow on rounds. Among other significant events for the angel investment group was an investment in Cross Campus, the startup coworking office operator which is in the midst of building new offices in Pasadena. DivX Acquired By NeuLion For $62.5M ---- San Diego-based DivX is changing hands, once again, and has been acquired by streaming video technology provider NeuLion, the two companies said Monday, in a deal worth $62.5 million, split between $37.5M in NeuLion stock and a $25M convertible note.(More...) http://www.socaltech.com/divx_acquired_by_neulion_for_6___m/s-0058386.html Epicor Completes ShopVisible Buy ---- Epicor, the big enterprise software developer which has extensive operations in Orange County, said Monday that it has completed its acquisition of ShopVisible, the developer of e-commerce and order management software. The deal had been announced originally on December 11th. No financial details of the acquisition deal have been announced by either of the companies. Epicor is using the acquisition to bolster its ecommerce offerings for the midize and large retail market. Spotlight Ticket Management Becomes TicketManager, Plans Hiring ---- Calabasas-based Spotlight Ticket Management, the venture-backed startup which helps companies manage their corporate sports and entertainment tickets for big brands like Coca Cola, Google, Comcast, and many others, has renamed itself Ticketmanager, the company said today. Ticketmanager is venture backed by Point Judith Capital and Coyote Ridge Ventures, and raised a $6M funding round earlier in 2014. TicketManager is led by Tony Knopp. Ticketmanager helps companies manage, track, distribute, buy, and sell tickets. Ticketmanager also said it has moved into a new headquarters in Calabasas as part of a rapid expansion; the company says it is currently hiring in developers, account managers, sales professionals, and others to help grow the company. Belkin's Wemo Expands Home Automation Lineup ---- Playa Vista-based Belkin is significantly expanding its ecosystem of its Wemo connected home devices, with the introduction of a number of addition Wemo-enabled devices at CES--including Wemo Water, which uses a single sensor attached to a water pipe in your home to track water usage across the house; door and window sensors to monitor if anyone has left a door and window open in your home; a key fob sensor which can track people and pets throughout the home; an alarm monitoring device which listens for smoke alarms, burglar alarms, and other alarms in your house; and a battery operated motion sensor.
