As part of the the funding, Mark Suster of Upfront Ventures joins the company's board. Ferris develops a mobile, iPhone app which lets users save and share videos they create ont heir phones, and links those videos together into "stories". The startup is led by Paul Bouadakis. The company's app include such features as group stories for capturing videos of things like weddings, sports, concerts, and other life events. http://www.socaltech.com/intelligence/index.php?action=showdeal&id=63816 Activision Sets Call of Duty: Black Ops III Release ---- Santa Monica-based game publisher Activision said this morning that it will be rolling out another Call of Duty sequel, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, on November 6th. Activision said that the new title will debut on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC platforms simultaneously. The new title is being developed by Treyarch. In conjunction with the announcement, Activision said it has started accepting pre-orders for the game, as well as started offering up early beta access to those who pre-order the game. Activision said it took three years of development for Call of Duty: Black Ops III--the longest ever spent on development of a game in the series. The new title apparently includes new, multiplayer features, as well as new Zombie features. Quanticel Pharmaceuticals Acquired By Celgene ---- San Diego- and San Francisco-based Quanticel Pharmaceuticals has been acquired Celgene, in a deal worth $100M in cash plus up to $385M in earn out. Celgene said the deal gives it access to Quanticel's proprietary platform for the single-cell genomic analysis of human cancer, to help advance Celgene's pipeline of cancer therapies. Quanticel had been led by Steve Kaldor, and was venture backed by Versant Ventures. aTyr Pharma Adds Board Member ---- San Diego-based aTyr Pharma said this morning that it has added a new member to its board. aTyr said it has added Mark Goldberg, M.D., who is currently Senior Advisor for Medical and Regulatory Strategy at Synageva BioPharmaca Corporation, to the position.
