Bourque had been the CEO of Smartify, the marketing automation and analytics company. Instantly offers up a service which helps brands access market research and sampling. The company, until recently, was known as uSamp. Fandango Rolls Out Apple Watch App ---- Los Angeles-based movie site Fandango launched a new app for the Apple Watch today, letting users pull up barcoded movie tickets on the new Apple Watch, as well as other feature as directions to a theater, countdown-to-showtime clock, and more. Fandango said the Apple Watch app works in conjunction with Fandango's app on the iPhone. The app also includes movie trivia and facts, and will eventually include the ability to rate films. Fandango said the new app is available from the Apple Watch App Store as of this morning. Awesomeness TV Launches Millenial Mom Channel ---- Los Angeles-based AwesomenessTV disclosed Thursday that it is launching a brand new online video channel and brand focused on millenial mothers, called Awestruck. The new channell--which will be carried through YouTube, Facebook, and Verizon--will feature comedy, dramas, talk shows, and much more. AwesomenessTV is owned by Dreamworks Animation. XPRIZE Launches MOONBOTS Challenge ---- XPRIZE, the Marina Del Rey-based organization that is known for running competitions to spur innovation solutions to some of the world's biggest problems, has launched a new effort called the MOONBOTS Challenge. (More...) http://www.socaltech.com/xprize_launches_moonbots_challenge/s-0059935.html Hulu, Turner Broadcasting Ink Deal For Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, TNT Titles ---- Los Angeles-based streaming television site Hulu and Turner Broadcasting said Thursday that the two are in their first licensing agreement between the companies, which will bring such titles as Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Last Ship, and Murder in the First to Hulu's service. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The companies said that the multi-year licensing agreement will grant Hulu the exclusive SVOD rights to previous seasons of programming from Cartoon Network and Adult Swim as well as select current and upcoming series from TNT and TBS. The deal also covers upcoming TBS series Angie Tribeca, which the companies said will be available exclusively for streaming after its full run season on TBS. Ocho Opens Office In Los Angeles ---- Ocho, a New York-based developer of a mobile video messaging app which lets users share 8-second videos with each other, said Thursday that it has opened up a new office in Los Angeles. The company said it has hired Andy Schuon to head up the office. Schuon was most recently Chief Digital Officer at Ticketmaster/Live Nationa, and also had served as president of CBS Radio, and GM of Warner Bros. Records, and also founder of a music television channel with Vivendi-Universal and Sean "Diddy" Combs, in addition to serving at MTV, MTV2, and VH1. 3DR Ups Funding Round To $64M ---- 3DR, the drone manufacturer and technology developer, said this morning that it has raised its Series C funding to $64M, in an expansion beyond its initial, $50M funding. According to 3DR, the expansion was led by WestSummit Capital, and also included SanDisk Ventures and Atlantic Bridge Ventures, along with other investors. The new funding comes on top of the earlier, $50M funding, which came from Qualcomm Ventures, Foundry Group, True Ventures, OATV, Mayfield, and Shea Ventures. 3DR is based in Berkeley, but was founded and has major operations in San Diego.
