According to ViaSat, its KOV-55 Security-System-on-a-Chip has been certified to to secure voice and data up to the Top Secret level for Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low-Volume Terminals (MIDS LVT) operating over a Link 16 network. ViaSat says it is producing approximately 10,000 of its product as part of a contract with the U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. The chip is being used as part of a system with the U.S. Navy, Marines Corps, Army, and others. SolarReserve Gets Approval For 260MW Chilean Energy Plant ---- Los Angeles-based utility-scale solar power developer SolarReserve said last week that it has received environmental approval for a huge, 260MW solar energy plant in Chile. According to SolarReserve, the Chilean government approved the Copiapo Solar Project, whichi s epxected to go into commercial operation in 2019. The solar power project is based on SolarReserve's current Crescent Dunes project here in the US. The new plant uses both molten salt, thermal energy storage and concentrating solar power technology, in addition to more traditional photovoltaic panels. SolarReserve is led by Kevin Smith. OncoSec Names Legal Chief ---- San Diego-based cancer immunotherapy developer OncoSec Medical announced this morning that it has named Sheela Mohan-Peterson, JD, MS, as its Chief Legal and Compliance Officer. Mohan-Peterson was previously the company's General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, having joined the company in September of 2014. She has previously served at Merck & Co., Schering-Plough Biopharma, DNAX Research Institute, Incyte Genomics, and Roche Bioscience. According to Ranker, it has named Inger Lund Carter--formerly Yahoo! Front Page Editorial Director--as its Vice President, Content and Programming, and named David Cohn--formerly of Askmen and Crave Online--as Executive Vice President, Sales. Cohn will be based in New York, at a new office for the company. Carter previously also served at the Los Angeles Time, The New York Times, and Hearst; Cohn previously also served at H360/Antenna Media Group, VIBE Media, and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Ranker is led by Clark Benson. QLogic Swaps Out CEO ---- Aliso Viejo-based storage networking products maker QLogic is in a major, executive shakeup this morning, saying that its CEO, Prasad Rampalli, has resigned. According to QLogic, it has named Christine King as Executive Chairman, and Jean Hu as Acting CEO of the company. King has been a member of QLogic's board since 2013, and was previously CEO of Standard Microsystems Corporation and AMI Semiconductor. Hu has been SVP and CFO of QLogic since 2011. The company said that Hu will continue to act as CFO while serving a acting CEO.
