Surf Air had said in April that it expects to have a total of 13 aircraft in its fleet by the end of the year. Surf Air offers up unlimited flights between its destinations to members, flying out of less congested and more convenient regional airports. Western Digital Gets Massive, $3.775 Billion Equity Injection From Chinese Firm ---- Irvine-based disk drive and storage maker Western Digital Corporation has received a massive, $3.775 billion equity investment from Chinese company Unisplendour Corporation Limited, which will give Unisplendour a 15 percent stake in the company. According to Western Digital, Unispendour (Unis) will purchase newly issued Western Digital common stock at a price of $92.50 per share for the stake. Unis gets a position on Western Digital's board of directors with the investment. Evolve Media said its relaunched site is aimed at 25-34 year old males, and now includes specific content channels for culture, art, design, and style. Evolve Media said the site is now being anged by Executive Editor Andrew Pogany, who was previously Editor-in-Chief of Flaunt Magazine. http://www.socaltech.com/craveonline_relaunches_website/s-0062153.html Riverside County In Major 12MW Solar Power Project ---- The County of Riverside has turned on the first stage of a massive, 12MW solar power conversion project, which its installer says is the largest, countywide conversion to solar in the U.S. The massive installation of solar power is expected to help save the county around $200 million over the next 30 years in energy costs. The first stage of the project was installation of solar panels to power the Perris Sheriff Station; as an added benefit, those panels were installed as a solar carport, which also provide shade for residents and employees parking at that facility. The 12MW solar power installation program is being run by OpTerra Energy Services. iRise Rolls Out New Fast Prototyping Service ---- El Segundo-based iRise said Tuesday that it has rolled out a new service, which will help companies turn their ideas into software prototypes in less than 48 hours. iRise said its new service, iRise Express, takes text documents, presentations, screenshots, and photos to help convert ideas from enterprises, small businesses, and startups into working software prototypes. Pricing on the new service was not announced. iRise says its consultants will review documentation, contact the client, and then create an interactive prototype for review in the cloud.
