The SBIR Phase I award will go towards developing digital content, to help educate and prepare young adults for their future in the workforce and everyday life. Size of the grant was not announced by the company. The Language Express is developing software to help children with ADHD, Autism, and Asperger's. The company is led by Marc Zimmerman. Vrse Finds Funding For Virtual Reality Content ---- Los Angeles-based Vrse, a new virtual reality content company, said Thursday that it has raised a round of funding, and appointed Drew Larner as Chief Operating Officer. Vrse said it received the seed funding round earlier in the year, from Andreessen Horowitz, YouTube co-founder Steve Chen, Raine Ventures, WME, Live Nation, Vice Media, Marker LLC., Tribeca Enterprises, Annapurna Pictures, Legendary Pictures, and Elisabeth Murdoch's Freelands Ventures. Drew Larner is the former CEO of Rdio, and remains Vice-Chairman at Rdio; he also was at Europlay Capital Advisors. Vrse has a collection of story-driven, virtual reality content. Newegg said it is making all of October "Gametober", and will offer up a sweepstakes, deals on various gaming systems and titles, plus it will offer up six months of free membership to its Premier Customer program to people who purchase more than $300 during the month; the company also has rolled out special financing offers and more in the promotion. Renovate America Raises $90M For Energy Saving Financing ---- San Diego-based Renovate America has raised $90M in an equity financing round, from Silver Lake Kraftwerk, DFJ Growth, and others, the company disclosed Thursday. The company helps arrange finacing for residential, clean energy projects, working with local governments on property assessed clean energy (PACE) financing for those projects. Renovate America has previously received funding from Valor Equity Partners. Snapchat's official Twitter account tweeted out a link to the Official Snapchat Playing Cards, sold by Snapchat Inc. and fulfilled by Amazon.com, a standard deck of cards with an attached list of instructions for the game "SnapKings". That game--as described in the product description--assigns each of the card values to a different Snapchat related action, from taking a selfie, to using Snapchat's new Lens feature.
